Nothing byt errors from update server

Every time I run the launcher it starts to download the files for update 13, but after a few seconds I get the error "the request could not be sent". It then waits for 30 seconds, tries and fails again, and keeps doing this forever.

What has changed with the launcher? Are there new settings I need to apply to my firewall in order to get it to update?

Suddenly Unable To Patch Content

I have a fairly old computer, but it still plays LOTRO nicely. I logged on today for U13 and after it was done patching an error occurred:
PatchClientDLL::CheckDatFiles Failed. [Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data downloaded from the server.]

So I googled this and followed the instructions: deleting highres, raw, bindat, etc. Nothing worked. Did Turbine upgrade their graphics or something that is keeping my computer from playing it?

lotroclient has stopped working, every ~20 mins right after U13

I play on an old computer with windows xp on it. It always had small issues, like sometimes random crashes. But after i updated the game yesterday, and started to do quests in Flooded Isengard, in about 20 minutes it randomly crashed. It happened before after RoI, but only twice in an hour, than worked well. So i logged in again, but after another 20 minutes, it crashed. I played around 2 and a half hours, with a total of 7 crashes. I joined the game in 2011, and I purchased nearly the expansions. And now i can't even play. I looked up the forums for solutions, but yet nothing helped me. What should i do?

Raiding the leader, quest isnt working anymore.

Quest "raiding the leader", part of "book 4.chapter 21: servants of saruman", on everynight server dont work. When you go through the guardhouse door, the grapics are meshed up, door vashish, wall vanish, and all npc around the tower are gone. Its not only me, I did met several people on the place who with the same problem. You cant end the quest so i cant go on with the epic line.

I notice that the forums have either been patched or never were vulnerable, but what about the game client software itself? Does it use OpenSSL libraries?

I wanted to try lotro but after trying to do custom installing i was unable to choose path for it, and lost access to some folder and i dont have much knowledge about account managment so it'll take me much time to fix, thx a lot lotro.:mad:

Hello. I haven't been on in a very long time but after talking to some friends online and hearing all the things about the game being updated and remembering how much fun my husband and I had, I have had a huge itch to play again. This is the oldest account I could find, starting in 2007.

I am having a big problem though, as the launcher will not update. I have looked for solutions to this problem but none of them are working.

At first it starts up and everything is fine:

Then it has a weird hang up without saying an error:

Finally it gives me an unknown error with a jumbled code:

I have Windows 7 but I have installed this through Steam. It has worked before without issues so I don't know why it wouldn't work now. I have restarted my computer before launching the game and trying to update, opened the launcher directly (going to the folder instead of through Steam). Yesterday on a whim I installed and updated World of Warcraft which is a little over twenty two gigs and it has no issues. I was worried it was my internet but it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I am somewhat ignorant of computer 'specs' and such so:
Here is a better description of my computer if it helps.

I am willing to install without Steam but I am wondering if this is an issue I can resolve without having to download this all over again. I have an eight month old son and time is very precious to me when I get a couple of minutes alone to play something.

Avatar getting smaller and smaller

I'm getting a weird bug on my main toon (95) and only on him as it seems. Whenever I map, use door portal or in anyway fast travel to a location my avatar icon is gettting smaller and smaller to the point It's not there anymore at all. That means i cant Lave instance via portrait right click since the right click is linked to the Icon picture not actually on the surrondings. Anyone else seen an issue like that?

I've recently changed from a beat down laptop to i7-4770, gtx 660, 250 SSD and the problem started occuring now.

Any insight into the matter would be appreciated.

I Cannot Fix Hitching

From what I've gathered over the years, you are either in two groups: the group that has hitching and the group that has no idea what I'm talking about. I'm in the former.

I have played Lotro across 4 PCs since I've started playing, and the hitching has always been an issue regardless of settings. What am I doing wrong and why does the frame-rate drop down to 15-20 every few seconds? It is incredibly annoying that one of my favorite games runs like this. Please help me find a solution.

Launcher Refuses to Start Game.

I had just recently started playing LotRO again and once the launcher had finished updating the game I clicked Play and nothing happened. I tried deleting and/or renaming the UserPreferences.ini file in both my Documents folder and in my LotRO folder within Documents several times and it sadly did not solve my problem. I had gotten it to work once but that was a one time event, sadly.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I haven't seen any specific spots for it, and it is techinically under the windows launcher, so if this is the wrong place please let me know or move it accordingly.

I'm trying to run LOTRO with wine 1.6.1 on Ubuntu. Got it installed, and patched using the default launcher, then trying to run I get this Error.

I've tried looking around to figure out what the AkamaiDownloadURL thing is, but have had zero luck or have been looking in the wrong place. Anyone got ideas of what went wrong or what I need to fix?

Dying to get back into the game after my other laptop shot out, and got this one with Ubuntu installed.

launcher keeps freezing while updating

Anyone know of a work around for the launcher freezing? I keep getting stuck installing a video file on my lap top (raw/en/vignette_videos/vigne.....) at varying percentages -- over all it happens when updating files is at 55%. Update installed fine on my desktop -- no issues. So it's not my ISP (they are attached to the same router). I checked my firewall and everything is permitted. I'm at a loss -- but I had trouble the last update as well -- but eventually it installed.

Just getting old closing the launcher an reopening it hoping it finishes the install this time.

Game crashes after server select AFTer installing U13

When I start the launcher and log-in then click play a black window with a mouse cursor will appear for a while and then the game will close with the following error "lotroclient has stopped working. A problem caused the program to top working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

My drivers have been verified as up to date. Dxdiag reports no problems, OpenAL has been uninstalled. Graphics have been set to default. I have also tried some of the options discussed in the forums with no luck.

This has only occurred since installing update 13

chat unavailable cant find users prefernces.ini file

Hi guys I did an installation from a disk of this game adn chat is unavailable! I unistalled and re istalled to no avail. I found the solution
In Windows XP, you'll find the userpreferences.ini file in your C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online folder.

In Windows Vista, you'll find the userpreferences.ini file in your START>Documents>The Lord of the Rings Online folder.

Look for this section in the userpreferences.ini file:

[Net]
ConnectionSpeed=0.00
ComputeUniquePort=True
BindInterface=
UserSpecifiedPort=0

Change:UserSpecifiedPort=0 to UserSpecifiedPort=9000 or one port in the range of 9000-9005 so it looks like this:

[Net]
ConnectionSpeed=0.00
ComputeUniquePort=True
BindInterface=
UserSpecifiedPort=9000

Save changes.

Login and the LOTRO chat servers should be available.

But i cant get this to work! I cant find that ini file :( anyone know of any other solutions?

Happy Cloud isn't

New install on Windows 8.1 U1. Installing full install to E:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine

I click start download and Happy Cloud hangs, then I can click "Start Download" again. and again

and again.

Nothing happens. Tried in Windows 7 compatibility mode, no dice. Tried with Run As Administrator (which I shouldn't have to do) still no dice.

Ok I have re-installed LOTR twice already and getting this "PatchClientDLL::CheckDatF iles Failed. [Unable to Decrypt and deserialize the data downloaded from server.] why does this happening everytime after a major update.

can some1 help out with this? forgot its on Win8.1, and it was working last night perfectly

High level characters DELETED!! Paid expansions are GONE

HELP

I've just re-downloaded my game after not playing for a couple of months (2013). I've logged back onto the correct server (Silverlode & I am 100% sure it is this one) and not only are my characters gone, but so was my lvl 1! I cannot see my characters when I log into my account here on the forums. I have empty spaces in the character selection for new characters. It is like my characters never existed. I've played for two years on and off and I do not want to lose my place as it will take months of non-stop playing to get high enough to experience the new expansion packs. I am so upset and I need to know my options. To make matters even worse - ALL my saved up points and expansions are GONE - some of which were paid for!! I had no problem logging back into the game with my old username, so it's not as if I got in with a new slate.


Does LOTRO delete characters after a certain amount of time?
Is there a way to know if my account was hacked?
But then why are all my points and expansions gone to?


I downloaded the HI-RES client which I may have not done last time (but I seriously doubt this made a difference since I am still logging in with my old account details.

HELP OMG. Do I need to contact someone from the staff? How do I do this? I am from Australia so I cant call customer service or anything

Which res version does Express install?

So I am reinstalling the game and I noticed there was two options, express and custom. While custom has high res up at default, does express give high/low res automatically or does the client determine whether you have high specs to run LOTRO?
